Session Cost Allocation lets you tag charging sessions with a vehicle reference and cost centre, so you can attribute charging costs to the right vehicle, department or customer instead of absorbing them across the whole site. This guide explains how the pieces fit together end to end.

1. The problem this solves
Vehicles that charge for free, customer service cars, stock, demos or staff vehicles, often run with no record of which vehicle or department the cost belongs to. Session Cost Allocation adds a simple tagging step to charging so that cost can be recovered or reported on afterwards, without any payment processing or system integration required to get started.
2. How it works, end to end
- An administrator turns on Session Cost Allocation for the chargers it should apply to, using an access control profile.
- A member of staff plugs in a vehicle, opens the "Start a charge session" page, and tags the session with a vehicle reference and, optionally, a cost centre.
- The vehicle charges as normal. Staff can stop the session from the same page at any time.
- Once the session ends, the vehicle reference and cost centre are recorded against it in the Fuuse portal.
3. Who does what
| Role | What they do | Guide |
|---|---|---|
| Administrator | Chooses which chargers support Session Cost Allocation and turns it on for them. | Turning on Session Cost Allocation for your chargers |
| Technician / site staff | Tags and starts a charging session, then stops it when the vehicle is done. | Tagging a charging session with a vehicle and cost centre |
4. Where the data ends up
Tagged sessions appear alongside your other charging sessions in the Fuuse portal. You can find the vehicle reference and cost centre for a session via Session Log › Download Report.
5. What's coming next
Session Cost Allocation currently covers tagging, starting and stopping a session, and finding that data through the session report. Filtering sessions by vehicle reference or cost centre directly in the portal, an approximate cost-per-session view, and pulling this data automatically via the Sessions API are all planned as fast follows, we'll update this guide when they're available.
