How to Bulk Upload Chargers in Fuuse

The bulk charger upload feature allows you to add multiple chargers to the Fuuse platform in one go, saving time and ensuring consistency across your network. Follow this guide to prepare your data, upload chargers, and troubleshoot any issues.

Step 1: Download the Template

Before uploading chargers, you need to use the Fuuse bulk upload template.

1. Create a charging site & navigate to the 4th step: "EVSE" (A) and click on the 'Bulk Upload' button (B) OR if you have already created a charging site you can access the template via the drop down in the top right on your charging site (C).

Note: If going through the charging site flow you need to save the site first  (D) to view the 'Edit Charging Site' button.

2. Click Download Template to get the latest Excel format from the flow.

3. Open the file in a spreadsheet editor (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets).

Step 2: Fill in the Required Details

Each row in the template represents a charger. Fill in the following mandatory fields:

  • EVSE Name – A unique identifier for each charger.
  • Naming convention: an abbreviation of their company name or site name followed by a digit or A/B depending on the number of chargers & connectors.
  • Limitations: character limit of 16, cannot include spaces or special characters and cannot be a duplication of a similar charger.
  • OCPP / Hardware ID – The OCPP ID which is correlated with the charger. The OCPP ID can be found on the charger. This can usually be found on the charger itself and can be alphanumeric.
  • Communication Type –Currently all chargers are set up for OCPP 1.6. However it is best to check with your manufacturer which communication your chargers are running on (OCPP 2.0 is to be released soon).
  • EVSE Type – Specify the type of EVSE type (e.g., Public, Private - Workplace, Private - Domestic).
  • Meter Delivery Value – OCPP default is Wh but others exist however they are rare (Joules & kWh).  Please ensure you select Wh.
  • Max Power – Specify the maximum power output (e.g. 7kw, 22kw etc). This can usually be found on the charger but please contact your manufacturer or installer if you are unsure.
  • Charger Type – Specify the type of Charger (Chademo, Type 2, CCS, Unspecifed). Please contact your manufacturer or installer if you are unsure.
  • Power Type - What speed is the charger (DC, AC 1 Phase, AC 3 Phase, Unspecified). Please contact your manufacturer or installer if you are unsure.
  • Format - Specify whether the charger has cable or a socket. If you are using a tethered connection (no cable required), please select 'cable' in the back office. For an untethered connection (cable required), you should select 'socket.'
  • Identifier – the identifier is the connector / socket attached to a charger this can be anything from 1 or above. If your charger has multiple connectors / sockets then you’ll need to duplicate the EVSEs and name accordingly, but make sure to include different identifiers such as 1,2,3 and so on. For example, a dual socket charger would have an identifier of 1 for socket 1, and 2 for socket 2.
  • Private Type: Randomised delay (0-600s) - this is optional, default will be 600. This is required at private sites to optimise charging as to not put pressure on the grid. When set at 600s it can take up to 600s for a vehicle to start charging.

⚠️ Note: Ensure there are no empty mandatory fields or incorrect formats, as these will cause errors during upload and you will have to resubmit in line with limitations.

You should end up with all fields filled out, similar to the example below:

In this example we have 2 x 22kw dual socket chargers, and 1 x 50kw charger (note an EVSE name per socket).

Step 3: Upload the File

1. Return to the Bulk Upload page.

2. Click Select an Excel file to upload and select your completed Excel file or drag and drop your file.

3. Click Import EVSES to start processing the data.

The system will validate the file and provide feedback.

  • If successful, you will see a confirmation message.
  • If there are errors, you will see which rows have errors in.

Step 4: Resolve Errors (If Any)

If errors occur:

1. If errors identified in cells

2. Correct the errors in your Excel file.

3. Re-upload the corrected file.

Common errors include (highlight why errors occur):

  • Incorrect formatting (e.g., non-numeric values in power output fields).
  • Duplicate charger names
  • Missing required fields

You will find what is required as notes in the spreadsheet

Step 5: Confirm Upload & Review Chargers

Once the upload is complete you will be able to see the chargers under the charger site page.
