Understanding user roles in Fuuse
Fuuse uses Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) to manage what each of your team members can see and do on the platform. Instead of giving everyone the same access, you assign each user a role. That role acts like a keyring: it carries a set of permissions that unlock the specific pages and actions the person needs for their job, and keeps everything else out of reach.
This keeps your organisation secure (people only access what they need), simpler to manage, and easier to audit.
How to assign a role
Roles are assigned per user under Access > Users. When you invite a new user or edit an existing one, you choose their role from the list. You can change a user's role at any time.
Note: The exact roles available to you depend on your organisation's setup. Every organisation has the core roles (Operator Admin, Operator, Support Plus, Support and Maintenance). The additional specialist roles (Network Ops, Finance, Marketing, Fleet Manager and Operations) appear once RBAC is enabled for your organisation. If you'd like these enabled, contact Fuuse support.

Operator Admin
The highest level of access. Operator Admins can do everything an Operator can, plus manage the organisation itself. This role should be reserved for the people who run your account.
Key permissions:
- Everything included in the Operator role (see below)
- View and edit organisation (operator) details and settings
- Manage billing agreements and bank information
- Create and manage roles and permissions
- Add, edit and remove users at every level
Operator
A broad, hands-on role for people who run your sites and chargers day to day. Operators can manage almost everything operational, but not the organisation's billing and bank settings.
Key permissions:
- Manage charging sites: add, view, edit, delete and tag sites
- Manage chargers: add and edit chargers, and use charger actions (start/end session, soft & hard reset, unlock connector, update firmware, set available/unavailable, send charging profiles)
- View sessions and download session logs; issue receipts
- Manage access control profiles, RFID cards and bookings
- Manage tariffs, subscriptions and promotions
- Manage drivers, vehicles and driver groups
- Manage the issue log, reports and user notifications
- View and download revenue statements
- Add, edit and block users
Cannot: edit organisation-level billing agreements or bank details.
Operations
Designed for operational teams under RBAC, this role gives the same broad day-to-day control as the Operator role: full management of sites, chargers, sessions, access control, tariffs, subscriptions, promotions, the issue log, users, groups, reports and notifications. It's the natural choice for staff responsible for keeping the network running.
Finance
A commercially focused role for finance teams. It gives full control over pricing and revenue, with read-only visibility of the operational side.
Key permissions:
- Manage tariffs, subscriptions and promotions (create, edit and remove)
- View and download revenue statements
- View and edit organisation details; view billing agreements and bank information
- View chargers and sessions, and issue receipts
- Create and manage reports and user notifications
Cannot: add or reconfigure sites and chargers, or use charger actions.
Marketing
For teams running campaigns and driver engagement. It focuses on the tools that attract and reward drivers.
Key permissions:
- Manage promotions and subscriptions
- Manage RFID cards and bookings
- Manage driver groups
- View tariffs, chargers, sessions and revenue statements
- Create and manage reports and user notifications
Cannot: add or edit sites and chargers, or change organisation settings.
Fleet Manager
For customers managing a vehicle fleet and its charging. It combines control of the fleet's drivers and vehicles with the chargers they use.
Key permissions:
- View and edit sites; add, view, edit and delete chargers, and use charger actions
- View sessions and download session logs
- Manage RFID cards; view bookings
- Manage the issue log
- Add, edit, block and remove users, and manage driver groups
- View organisation details, bank information and revenue statements
- Create and manage reports and view notifications
Support Plus
A senior support role for people helping to resolve problems. As well as viewing information across the platform, Support Plus users can take action — for example interacting with chargers and making certain edits — to fix issues without needing full Operator access.
Support
A first-line support role. Support users can view records across the platform — chargers, sessions, sites, bookings and more — so they can answer questions and diagnose issues. Their ability to make changes is limited, making this a safe role for a helpdesk.
Maintenance
For field and maintenance staff working on charger hardware. This role is focused on chargers and upkeep: viewing chargers, using charger actions (such as resets, setting availability and firmware updates), working with maintenance schedules, and managing the issue log.
Network Ops
For teams that monitor and intervene across the wider network. Network Ops sits alongside the senior support level, combining broad visibility of sites and chargers with the ability to take action to keep the network healthy.
Access is under continuous improvement. The core support and maintenance roles are being migrated to Fuuse's newer, more granular permission model, so the exact actions available to a role may expand over time. If you need a user to have a very specific set of permissions, contact Fuuse support and we'll help you find the right role.
