This guide explains how an administrator turns on Session Cost Allocation for a charger, so that staff can tag charging sessions with a vehicle reference and cost centre.

1. Before you start
Session Cost Allocation is turned on per Access Control Profile, the same place you manage contactless payments, anonymous web sessions and driver app payments. A charger only supports Session Cost Allocation if it's covered by a profile with the setting turned on, so this is what actually determines which chargers your staff can use. You'll need permission to manage access control profiles to make this change.
If you don't see the option described below, Session Cost Allocation may not yet be enabled on your account, contact the Fuuse support team to ask about access.
2. Choose the chargers Session Cost Allocation applies to
- In the left-hand menu, browse to the "Access" tab and select "Access Control Profiles".
- Open an existing profile to edit, or select "Add New Profile" to create one.
- On the "Locations and EVSEs" step, select the locations and chargers you want Session Cost Allocation to apply to. If it should apply everywhere, tick "apply to all" instead of selecting each one individually.
Only chargers covered by this profile will support tagged charging sessions once the setting below is turned on, chargers outside it won't show up on the "Start a charge session" page.
3. Turn on Session Cost Allocation
- Continue to the "Access Configuration" step.
- Under "Public Access and Payments", tick "Allow session cost allocation".
4. Finish and save the profile
Complete the rest of the profile as normal, including which drivers or driver groups it applies to, then preview and save your changes. You can review the "Allow session cost allocation" setting at any time from the profile's details page, alongside the other public access and payment options.
5. What happens next
Once a charger falls under a profile with Session Cost Allocation turned on, staff can use it to start a tagged charging session, see "Tagging a charging session with a vehicle and cost centre" for the steps they'll follow.
Note: if you need help deciding which profile or chargers to apply this to, contact the Fuuse support team.
